Trader Joe’s Chicken and Vegetable Wonton Soup Review
This frozen wonton soup was a solid attempt at something great I feel, but still kinda left me looking for more. If you are really jonesin’ for some wonton soup, this will satisfy your craving. But there are a few downsides I thought. The broth itself does have decent flavor, but was a little too briny to me. Like someone tossed in 6 too many bullion cubes. The vegetables were a fail here too I think. I know it’s probably hard to pull off good vegetables in a frozen soup such as this, but these things were sad. Shriveled up cardboard that sank to the bottom of the bowl might have tasted better. Haha, just kidding, but the vegetables weren’t all that far off from reminding me of that. Also, there is a fair deal of pepper and spices that seemed to sink to the bottom of the bowl which I thought was a little strange. The good aspect though, were those wontons. They were actually fluffy and tasty, and came out with a fair consistency once cooked. I thought nuking this bowl in the microwave would surely kill these blobs of goodness. Not so much. I’d probably make my own wonton soup next time (it’s not hard to do at all, I’ll show you guys sometime), but if you are in a pinch and you just need something hot and filling, then give this one a shot.
