bourbon

So, kinda breaking out of the norm here and doing a review on something that’s not quite a Trader Joe’s branded product sold exclusively in their stores. But I just gotta. Why you ask? Well, this stuff is special. How special? Umm, well about as special as a ten dollar bottle of bourbon possibly ever could be. Haha, but seriously. I know bourbon. For the past 5 years I’ve been progressively more and more interested in the stuff and have really grown a passion for exploring it. I’ve sampled probably about 75 bourbons at this point and have had a range of brands everywhere in between Pappy Van Winkle 23 Year all the way down to the dregs of your no name bottom shelf swill you have to dust off at your local drugstore. Some of you might think I’m looney, but this is hands down the best bang for your buck that you are ever gonna find in a lower end bourbon. This really has become the regular sipper in my bourbon collection. I have several bottles of higher end product on my shelf at home, but those remain in reserve for special occasions and when I have friends over that appreciate a good bourbon as much as I do. You wouldn’t think it, but the stuff really is smooth. So smooth in fact, that I drink it neat. Yup, no nothing in it. Just bourbon. Naked. It’s not harsh in the least bit on the finish as far as I’m concerned. And believe me, I am concerned. Slightly smokey in flavor. Nicely viscus as you might expect from a further aged bourbon, and positively on the sweet side as far as whiskeys go. I’m just so shocked at how something at this price point can taste so good. I’m telling you. I’ve bough many a $50 plus bottle of bourbon only to find myself disappointed. And what did I end up doing after finishing my tumbler in disgust? I reached for that Rebel Yell. “How crazy” I thought to myself, every single time. If you are remotely into sipping bourbon, go give this a try. You can’t lose at this price. Worst case scenario, you use it for mixing or shots. Let us know what you think down below. $10.99
