Trader Joe’s Organic Black Bean Rotini Pasta Review

I’ve been on a kick lately trying to buy alternatively based pasta products to up my protein intake and down my carbohydrate intake. Some of the things I have tried have been great, some have been terrible. This one falls somewhere in the middle. They are just OK. A big thing that kind of turns me off is if the pasta has an overly beany taste to them. This one is pushing the boundary, although it is less noticeable when you mix in the other flavors you are cooking along with it, so it’s definitely do-able, and not a total deal breaker. And one word of caution when you are cooking these bean based pastas, they are really easy to over cook, so you have to stay on top of them and take them off the heat and out of the water pretty much as soon as they are becoming al dente. I found myself favoring the favor of the Trader Joe’s Organic Red Lentil pasta a bit more, but this one ain’t bad. Give these a shot, and let us know what you think down below! $2.99

Pasta Usage Idea

My most recent pasta concoction included this product! I started out by sauteeing some Trader Joe’s Sweet Baby Bell Peppers, Trader Joe’s Kale, Trader Joe’s Mushroom Medley, and sliced yellow onion in a pan with Trader Joe’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil. On the side, I boiled some Trader Joe’s Organic Black Bean Rotini pasta. Once cooked, I combined all the ingredients and topped with a jar of Trader Joe’s Alfredo Sauce. Added just a small amount of almond milk to loosen up the sauce a bit, then mixed it all together. Came out pretty good!
