Trader Joe’s Yellow Jackfruit Curry with Jasmine Rice Review

Seems that Jackfruit really has been all the rage lately. You’re seeing it more and more in various places, and I love the use here in this frozen dinner. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, I’m not a huge fan of frozen dinners, just because of the generally less healthy ingredients that go into making them. But sometimes, you’ve just gotta have some convenient things like these laying around for those times when you come home late from your harmonica lessons. So take a look down the ingredient list here. All natural. And NO PRESERVATIVES. Hmm, very impressive Trader Joe!

As for the taste. The rice, adequate. Little on the spongey side, but to be expected. The curry sauce and flavor was actually really rich and deep. The spice factor was higher than expected. This might turn some people off if you have a low heat threshold. I’d rate it a 7 out of 10 on the heat-O meter. The jackfruit was awesome though. It had the texture of a very, very moist shredded chicken breast. The bell peppers were complete mush unfortunately. But overall, a really satisfying little frozen meal. One word of caution though. The box tells you to cook between 5 and 7 minutes in the microwave. Mine was bubbling up and spilling over around the 4 and change minute mark, so just watch out. This one is definitely worth a shot guys! Even for you regular meat eaters. Let us know what you think down below! $2.79
